Mae Rim, Only 30 minutes from the city, the Mae Rim valley has some of the most exclusive hotels in the area and is close to orchid and butterfly farms, hill tribe villages, elephant trekking, excellent golf courses.

There's elephant camp, 20 km (13 mi.) north of Chiang Mai;Tours of the Doi Inthanon National Park leave from Mae Rim. They last from one to several days and use elephants for transport.
